Dr Krishan, who is the resident GP on BBC One's Morning Live programme and also BBC Radio Scotland, is a practising locum GP in the NHS.
Alongside her media work she has also written a children's book called How To Be A Doctor And Other Live Saving Jobs.
Dr Krishan said: 'This still doesn’t feel real, I am overjoyed to be a contestant on this year’s show. I have watched Strictly every year with my family and it feels extra special that it’s the 20th year, I can’t believe I will be the one getting Strictly-fied now. This is so out of my comfort zone, but I’m up for the journey and will give it my absolute all.'
In a post on X she added that as a 'mega fan' of the show it was a 'dream come true'. Dr Krishan said that she was lucky because many of her co-hosts on Morning Live have already been on Strictly so she would be 'tapping into all of their guidance and advice and wisdom' to help her through.
